Weekend Fun and Marathon News!
Happy Monday! This weekend was busy and fun at our household. Saturday morning was filled with football and cheerleading practices, so to get my long run in I woke up at 5:00 a.m. and was out the door by 5:45. On my schedule I had 15 miles with the last 4 miles being at marathon race pace. I made myself stick to the slower pace in the beginning and finished strong! The last mile was tough, but I was happy with how it all turned out. Mile splits were 9:06, 8:59, 8:59, 8:52, 9:00, 9:09, 9:00, 8:50, 8:44, 8:39, 8:21, 8:07, 8:08, 8:03, 8:08.
On Sunday we celebrated my brother’s birthday with the family. It was great spending the day with family!
Great day with family! Doesn’t get any better!
Something else happened this weekend:
It’s official! I’m running the Indianapolis Marathon on October 19! Not only that, but I decided to join Team World Vision for this race to raise funds for clean water in Africa. I felt like it was time to put the passion I have for running towards something else. I talked with Team World Vision while I was up in Chicago last weekend, came home and prayed and talked to my family about it. With Team World Vision, you set your fundraising goal. I set my goal to $1300, which will provide 26 people (one for each mile) with clean water for life. You can learn more about Team World Vision here or if you feel led to donate you can visit my fundraising page here. I’d appreciate your prayers on this journey!
Today’s workout is a new one! Yasso 800s. 1 mile warm up, then 800 meters in 3 minutes 40 seconds, then 400 meter jog for recovery. Repeat 4 times. Follow with 1 mile cool down. I will let you tomorrow how it goes!
Have a great day!
